Kay Lautman, CFRE, President, Emeritus
Kay Partney Lautman, CFRE – visionary, pioneer and leader – founded Lautman Maska Neill & Company as the culmination of a direct mail fundraising career that started in the 1950s.

Kay developed many successful fundraising campaigns, including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, The National Museum of The American Indian (Smithsonian Institution), and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), among thousands of others.

Prior to starting her own firm, Kay was President of Oram Group Marketing, and prior to that was Associate Director of the World Wildlife Fund. Her numerous awards include the l985 Outstanding Fund Raising Executive bestowed by the Washington DC Chapter of the National Society of Fundraising Executives (NSFRE) and the 1994 “Woman of the Year” by the Women's Direct Response Group (WDRG) in Washington, DC. In 1996 she was given The Professional Fundraising Achievement Award by the Non Profit Council of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and in 2002 she was named “Marketer of the Year” by the Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association (DMFA).

Ms. Lautman has trained generations of direct marketing fundraising professionals through her best selling book, Dear Friend: Mastering the Art of Direct Mail Fund Raising, published by The Taft Group in 1984 and its 2000 follow-up, Direct Marketing for Nonprofits, published by Jones and Bartlett Publishers.

Her commitment to fundraising as a professional is demonstrated by her work as an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Ms. Lautman has served on its local board, its National Board, and its Foundation Board. She is founding board member of the Association of Direct Response Fundraising Counsel (ADRFCO), and of the Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association (DMFA). She is also a member of the DMA. She currently serves on the Executive Committees of two non-profit boards – Community Council for the Homeless at Friendship Place and America the Beautiful Fund, both in Washington, DC.
