The history of Lautman Maska Neill & Company dates back to the 1940s when legendary fundraiser Harold Oram hired Kay Lautman, who was one of the pioneers in the emerging field of direct response fundraising. Kay acquired the direct marketing branch of Oram Group Marketing in 1992. Soon, Lisa Maska and Tiffany Neill joined the company, and eventually became Kay’s partners.
In 2007, Lisa Maska and Tiffany Neill purchased the firm from Kay. Lautman Maska Neill & Company was born and Lisa and Tiffany own 100% of the stock in this Washington, DC-based company to this day.
Lautman Maska Neill & Company’s founder, Kay Partney Lautman, helped define the practice of direct mail fundraising for non-profit organizations. Her strategies and creative insights inform our methodology and her leadership, creativity and dedication to helping the nonprofit causes she championed inspire the company every single day.
She was the author of two books on direct response fundraising: the bestselling book, Dear Friend: Mastering the Art of Direct Mail Fund Raising, published by The Taft Group in 1984 and its follow-up, Direct Marketing for Nonprofits, published by Jones and Bartlett in 2000.
